Would you like to offer your employees a cocktail party? Preparing a vernissage? Would you like to celebrate your graduation with an aperitif? MAYOR TRAITEUR can help you with all your business and private events in the cantons of Geneva and Vaud. Discover our 5 practical tips to help you organize the perfect reception.
#1 Choosing a reception venue
First and foremost, it’s essential to find a suitable venue to welcome your guests. It needs to be spacious, well-lit and pleasant. If you’re short of space in your company or home, you can rent a room or consult the reception venues offered by MAYOR TRAITEUR in Geneva and the canton of Vaud.
#2 Estimate the quantity of parts
One of the major issues in organizing a reception is the number of appetizers. Ideally, you don’t want to run out, and you don’t want to order too many, in order to stay within your budget. To avoid wastage, MAYOR TRAITEUR offers to donate uneaten food at the end of the event to a partner charity in Geneva.
To achieve the right balance, we recommend the following quantities depending on the duration of the event.
- 30 minutes: 3 to 4 pieces per person
- 45 minutes: 4 to 6 pieces per person
- 1 hour: 6 to 8 pieces per person
- 1 h 30 : 10 to 12 pieces per person
- 2 hours: 15 pieces per person
If you order less than 5 pieces per person, it’s best to choose either savory or sweet. For 5 pieces or more, you can mix aperitifs and sweets.
Is your reception a mealtime event? Let yourself be tempted by a Lunch or Dinner Cocktail formula prepared by most of Switzerland’s corporate caterers. The items served, at least 13 in all, are generally more substantial.
#3 Determine the variety of beverages
For non-alcoholic beverages, it is generally recommended to count :
- still and/or sparkling water: 1 liter for 3 people
- main juice and/or soda: 1 liter for 10 people
- additional juice and/or soda (other fruit or other brand): 1 liter for 20 people
Would you like to offer alcoholic beverages at your reception? Depending on your preferences, you can opt for a single type of alcohol or a selection of products.
- 1 bottle of champagne, crémant or wine for 5 people
- 1 liter Cocktails (sangria or punch, for example) for 8 people
The above quantities are indicated for a reception of one hour maximum.
#4 Acquire the necessary equipment
Make sure you have all the equipment you need for a professional or private reception: furniture (bar, high tables, etc.), crockery and tablecloths. At MAYOR TRAITEUR, we can take care of the set-up, bring the equipment and provide service personnel.
#5 Create a mood
Give your reception a personalized touch with entertainment that will leave a lasting impression on your guests. DJ, live band, magician or culinary entertainment, we can meet all your requirements. You can also ask us to decorate the venue according to the theme of your event.
